what this is

a torch. opening it makes you a bearer and buys the flame more time. when the clock runs out, it goes dark, and this page becomes a permanent tombstone. saving it or letting it die earns you nothing. there is no restore button and no meaning. the flame has no purpose beyond continuing to exist.

the flame

each new bearer resets the timer, 24 hours at first. the deal gets worse as it grows. 6 hours at 10,000 bearers, 1 hour at 50k, 30 minutes at 100k, 15 at 250k, 5 at 500k, 2 at 750k, 1 at a million. the torch can delay the dark. whether it can outrun it forever, nobody knows.

privacy

we never see your ip address. cloudflare resolves your approximate city at their edge and the city name is all we store. no accounts, no cookies, no tracking, nothing except one random id in your own browser's storage so you only count once. a turnstile bot check runs when you open the page, meaning scripts and robots cannot save it. this is less data than a flashlight app demands. when the torch goes out, its stats freeze forever.
